First of all, thanks for reading this. I've been a loyal member and poster to Spoofee for a while now and this is the first time I have ever really asked for anything, so please bear with me.
To be totally up front and honest, I have put myself in a corner and I need halp - fast. As many of you already know, I'm raising funds for the Boston Breast Cancer 3Day walk. Through trial and error (mostly error) I have discovered that major companies - such as Victoria's Secret, Bath and Body Works and Yankee Candle, do NOT support individual participants, but the organizations themselves. I was sooooo not expecting these outright denials ( although I have come to understand the point of view) and I have planned 3 major fundraiser events - all with advertized gift card "raffle prizes". I feel sooooooo royally screwed, and all because I trusted that major companies might want to engage in an act of community relations :frusty: . Do any one of you out there in Spoofeeland have a gift card or two that they might be willing to donate for a great cause? 100% of donations from this event will benefit the 3Day and I have proof of participation and non profit status that I can email to you to insure that this is no scam. Thanks again for reading this! Love, Lisa

I don't have a gift card to donate, but I'll give you my two cents.
As you know I am doing the Breast Cancer 3 Day over here in Detroit. I've asked corporations if they will match cash donations. I've had a few "we'll get back to you" and "depending on how much the match will be". I don't know if you have a Meijer near you, but I was guaranteed a $500 match donation on cash. I just hope I can raise that much in cash.
If I find any more corporations I will keep you updated. Any bit will help.
Stay focused and be positive!!

stick with smaller companies in the community for fundraising, call the news and paper to advertise your fundraising event, I have had luck with smaller companies when asking for local donations, restaurants are really good for donating gift certificates to their place and you can raffle those, when I was homeless a part of my "rent" was to make calls to secure donations for the shelter I was staying in, and smaller area companies were a lot of help, clothing places that are localy owned gave gift certs to their stores, all of the grocery stores will give you a $10 gift cert, I called about 5 different Krogers in my area, explained what the deal was, they gave $10 and asked for a nonprofit letter, when are you doing the fundraisers?

These are great ideas! :) I'm sorry that I don't have anything to donate and wish you lots of luck. :luck:

Thanks for all your support and ideas. I really appreciate them. As you all probably know by now, it's been a REALLY bad week here and knowing that there are others here to do my thinking for me (while my lamebrain is on hiatus ) really relieves the stress. Thanks so very much. :amen: My Spoofee pals are on my gratitude list today...
