PNY Rebate rewards- what is this?

This is a first. I get an email saying that my PNY $30 memory rebate needs to be validated by pressing the link. I go there and it says I can select 3 "Rebate Rewards"- all of which are supposedly worth more than $30. However I cant tell from the page- are these INSTEAD of the $30 rebate, or as well as it?Has anyone else seen this? More tricks I presume?

Yes, I believe this is a new option. You can choose merchandise instead of the cash rebate. Makes sense for them to do this, and, if you actuallu WERE goin to buy the product, might sense for you. But I always take the cash!

Would you PLEASE just post this email you speak of, with any personally identifiable information, or rebate tracking number removed.

PNY $30 rebate? You mean for the 32MB Secure Digital card? I ordered that and processed the rebate and never got a confirmation. Anyone want to give me a clue?

actually, its a new thing going on called click smart... I kinda fell for the gimmic... What it is is that you can choose a prodct instead of the cash rebate you sent in. If you don't read the fine print, then you'll get caught like me and think that its like the imation deal where you buy thier cds, get a rebate, and get free stuff. I accdentally took an mp3 player instead of a $25 rebate, and I don't think parago will fix this kinda mistake (you can't fix it yourself either...) :evil:
