Does anyone know of any good free pop-up blockers????????

Google tool bar has a free blocker and I believe they have one that now works with Firefox

Get SP2 for your Windows XP as it has a built-in popup blocker. Are you getting these when you are actually surfing the Internet or do they just popup whenever?

they actually dont happen very often but when they do i'm not even on the internet. I have crazy browser on my comp for high speed. Most of the time when they do come up its when i'm not even actually online.

Go to Trendmicro's Web site and choose the option to do a free virus and spyware scan. Make sure you remove everything it finds as malicious.

Check out these other links too. They'll help you out.
-----------------------------------------------------
Ad-aware: Free adware/spyware remover.
Microsoft Anti-spyware: Free (for now) adware/spyware remover.
Spybot Search & Destroy: Free adware/spyware remover.
Spyware Blaster: Free proactive prevention of adware/spyware.

I've written manuals that show how to install and use these programs. Just PM me if you want the manuals as well. They are PDF files.

Are you referring to messages/pop-ups that look like this?

If so follow these instructions

Like Waxedstrong said, get Mozilla Firefox. I have been using it for quite a while and i have noted the fact there is a significantly less amount of spyware on my computer. Internet explorer is horrible compared to this browser.

Firefox is great (and hey I'll even endorse it), but it won't stop the adware/spyware on her computer from using IE to give malicious popups. Let us know if you need any help, Keara's Mommy aka Mommy-Of-2.

Yeah, I used to be a believer in Spybot, but I've been using Microsoft AntiSpyware a lot lately on my client's computers and it seems to do the trick well.

However, switch to Firefox as well.

Or, use Safari on the Mac like myself. ;)

yeah i use the microsoft spyware also and it works quite nicely.

Yeah, becuase you know those folks at Microsoft are always churning out more spyware. ;)

after having several pop ups at work, i have tried to install the google toolbar to do the trick, but it catches them like a 1:5 ratio.....then i installed the free Ad-aware software , and although it detects them and deletes it, it just keeps on coming and coming.......every run i get one after the other finds like 4 or 5 right at that instant and deletes it but they never go away....i try to run a search on them through my computer, but they seem to be tracked through only the internet, so i deleted the internet explorer cookies and temporary files, but still nothing WORKS!!

even though some may disagree, I believe SpyBot is much better than McAfee. I've had McAffee for a couple years now and it doesn't catch ANY spyware! No matter how many test I did, it wouldn't recognize any! However, SpyBot Search and Destroy fixed all the problems. I also recommend FireFox, not only does it block pop-ups, but it also has many extensions! They are so handy!
