Powmax Aluminum 2.5" USB 2.0 Enclosure for Free Shipped After Rebate

I read up on this company and their rebates and someone said they had difficulties with their rebate on another item. There is also no phone number, just a gmail address, rebate108 at gmail.com to check your status.

I dunno, I'm torn. I've been looking for one to house my old HDD.

I got one. I am wanting to upgrade my laptop's hard drive and this will be great for the old one. At $9.99 this is not too risky. Even if I don't get teh rebate, $10 is not bad at all for an enclosure. Just be sure to document EVERYTHING! Read the fine print and keep a copy of everything you send. Yeah, I noticed that they don't have a phone number but they do offer a rebate status check via a gmail account.

This rebate is on a Moving Star enclosure. Last time I ordered one of these, it was from a company called Diablotek (check the Spoofee forums). Not sure if they have changed their company name to "PowMax" or if this is just the rebate processing center they are using. Again, the $10 shipped makes it a low-risk item. Here is what happened on my last Moving Star / Diablotek product rebate:

11-28-2006 - Purchased.
12-08-2006 - Shipped.
12-12-2006 - Delivered.
12-13-2006 - Rebate info scanned and mailed.
02-15-2007 - Discussion in the spoofee.com forum prompted me to send e-mail to Diablotek.
02-15-2007 - E-mailed request to find status of rebate - Received a form letter / auto-reply response.
02-22-2007 - E-mailed request to find status of 2-month long "processing" problem.
02-23-2007 - Received e-mail reply stating that rebates are being processed.
03-19-2007 - Received rebate check in the mail.

They appear to be seperate companies, according to Network Solutions anyway. I may just bite the bullet on this. $10 isn't bad. Now.. the trick is sending in the rebate form. I'm bad at that.

Got my $10 rebate check the other day. Not too bad on the speed. Not slow but not super fast for getting the rebate.
