Price Drop on Playstation 3 Systems

There should no reason to NOT pick up one of these, even if you just want a blu-ray player.

built-in wi-fi, bluetooth connectivity, free online capability/gaming service, web browser (albeit it's not great), and a great list of exclusive PSN (download only) and disc-based games make this a no-brainer.

Also, keep in mind there's a possible 250gig HD SKU for an extra Benjamin, but you could just swap out the HD and go for a 500gig for less than that now.

I'm wanting to pre-order the Slim... does anyone know of any sites out there that have discounts available (ie 10% off anything, or Microsoft Cashback, etc) as well as pre-orders available?
 
Sony is miserably losing the console market, that's why the move.

They are losing, but not "miserably" by your choice of words. For a console that launched @ $600, and had a similarly spec'd console that's already been out on the market for more than a year at a lower price point, I'd say it's doing fairly well for itself (I'm not counting the Wii since that thing just prints money lol).

23+ million consoles is nothing to shake a stick at and hardly would be considered a failure (whereas the DC only managed to move 10+ million). Comparatively speaking it's doing the worst though.

As the old saying goes, "When you've been at the top, there's nowhere else to go but down." In Sony's case, they fell pretty hard pretty fast.

It'll be interesting to see how the "console wars" pan out over the next year sales-wise and what M$ plans to do to trump this.

In any case, I can't see the price dropping any lower than this for at least another 4-5 years. We'll probably just be seeing larger HD SKUs and bundles if anything.
 
I don't think Sony cared too much about the success of their PS3 console. I think it was them trying to push their new Bluray format more than anything else.
 
It's funny the console that you can't buy a mod chip for is also on the bottom of the sales list.
