I wish I knew what kind of cartridges were worth recycling. I've got several dozen of various cartridges.

OK, this is a bit off topic & may not necessarily be the best deal for your empty cartridges, but Green Office Recycling will pay you to recycle your empty ink cartridges. $12 for 12 empty inkjet cartridges & $1 per laser cartridge. They supply pre-paid shipping labels & the boxes too.

addendum: this offer may only be for fundraising groups, though. i can't tell from their site if this offer is for everyone. just fyi

my service fraternity is trying to raise money by collecting empty inkjet and laser printer cartridges. so far, we've done pretty well. you'd be surprised how many ink cartridges universities go through in one week.

Coming from a printing/publishing university (RIT), we have three massive bins of empty ink and toner cartridges. We tried to do a fund raiser where they would come and collect (a different group), but never came by, so they just started building up. If your close to Rochester, NY, you should come get ours before they just get tossed.
