Would it be possible to start a listing of companies whose rebates always come through and those companies to avoid (like Office Max)? I love Staples rebates, they're fast and they always arrive.
Watch out for Comp USA, I have been screwed more than once. Also, watch out for Wirefly.com, you have to wait 6 months, and the company who handles their rebates is horrible.
I was screwed by compusa once long ago... but I figured I'd shop this Black Friday...
I made a purchase Netgear G Router but the rebate has specific stores and hours listed and by the time I made it through the line, it was 00:29 and my store was not listed for 12am-3am as OK for purchase time.
I'm going to have to fight it at Compusa... not sure I want to risk $55 by mailing it in and waiting months to hear back. I think Compusa does not start mailing rebates until AFTER the return policy date is over, but funny how for xmas time it has been extended into january... so they hold our money even longer!!
CompUsa will price any other stores rebate price without you having to do any rebate thing.
I saw a Canon printer at Fry's that I wanted. The price was 99.99 after a50.00 mail-in-rebate. I called CompUsa to see if they'd match it and I told them that it was a MIR price and they said yes. I went to CompUsa and they did it. My luck got better because the following week Somebody had that printer marked down to 69.99 with a MIR. I took that ad to CompUsa and they matched it again. So I ended up getting the printer for about 70$.
