Granny’s Italian Meat Balls and Pasta Sauce
THE PASTA SAUCE
1 LRG. Yellow Onion - Chop extra fine
3TBS. Olive Oil - Brown onion & oil slowly stirring
2 - 29 oz. Cans Tomato Puree
1 - Can 29 oz. Water ( Use Tomato Can to Measure)
3 - 6 oz. Cans of Tomato Paste
2 - Can 6 oz. Water ( Use Tomato Can to Measure)
4 Whole Chopped or Minced Garlic Cloves
2 TBS. of Basil (It is best to just sprinkle and cover entire top of sauce)
Combine all ingredients and cook uncovered bring to boil and then simmer.
You may also transfer to your crock pot.
Serve over penna pasta
You may also add mushrooms or green pepper if you like
You can add the home made meat balls or buy the ones from Sam's club
THE MEAT BALL
2lbs. Ground Beef
1lb.s. Ground Pork
3 eggs
3 large Handfuls of Bread Crumbs
( I use the Italian Season ones in the can from the grocery)
1 C. Parm Cheese
Salt and Pepper to taste
Parsley for color
The Trick to these is 2 things
1. MIX + Mix + Mix + Kneed + Kneed + Kneed by hand 1 hour (must be mushy)
(I usually put it in my kitchen Aid mixer with dough hook for
a while then kneed by hand as well)
2. Make balls and then place in the sauce in crock pot and cook over night or for 2hrs until meat is done.
