Also, this deal is for the "Less-than-New/Refurbished" Quadra. Theres also a "Like New/Refurbished" Quadra for $175. I wonder what determines the level of newness. Is the one for $100 scuffed, dented, scratched, and scraped or something?
 
They're probably warrantee repaired units. I have one of these and its broken, but within the 5 year warrantee period. I have to send it back and theyll replace it with another refurb.

It DOES take a lot of dirt out of the air. I have to clean it every 3-5 days. Personally, I feel the traditional air cleaners are less maintenance/mess to maintain.

My girlfriend's parents bought one against my strongh advice not to. It is not silent at all. Every few minutes you hear it generate a charge.

I doubt it works and for what you pay you can pick up a real nice quality, remote control, programmable, HEPA filter at Home Depot and probably 3 years worth of filters. Then you just program it to run during the day only. Mine works great and I cannot believe how much dust it pulls out of the air.
 
I am looking for one that really works and is at reasonable price, the most important is that it suck all the smoke that my grandpa give, the air is really bad and my lung is getting my attention!
 
if anyone wants to give the refub. purifier a shot. once i brought refurbished stuff on sharperimage.com well it was the cd player i think choochoo suggested and then i took it to the store and the guy gave me a brand new one; i told him the one i got didnt work.

Check out Home Depot. Look for something that has a charcoal filter surrounding the HEPA filter. I can spray cologne into mine and I don't smell it come out the other end. The HEPA should definately filter out the smoke.
 
the charcoal does filter out smells really good, it gets used up pretty fast though.

hugh, mine really was broken well atleast whenever it wanted to be. thing only worked when it wanted to. i just thought it was great they didnt have to hassle me and try to find me another refurbished one and all that. i love that place now and im willing to spend a little more there. plus their stuff looks really cool.
