I'm thinking two things:
1) A lot of people returned them for whatever reason (possible defective, or they didn't like it)
2) Apple is coming out with a new model and wants to get rid of the old ones they have

My 2 cents

I think many people returned it to the AT&T stores....or to Apple.

I don't like the iPhone, it's too limited. Windows Mobile 6 all the way!!!

Sometime people can't afford the phone, or plan, that they get. I can easily imagine people going out and buying things with the intent to sell them for profit. I bought 2 wii games from toys r us due to a tip from Spoofee that Activision games were going to be buy one get one free for a limited time. So I rushed out and got Marvel Alliance (i might of messed up on the name) and Call of Duty 3. The next week their price got axed down to $30 and I couldn't sell them for profit. This isn't what is going to happen with the iPod but I can easily see a second version or revision (fix the bugs already found) or just so that more people get them which makes more people want them. My wife saw the Motorola Razr as a co-worker had one so she wanted it. I got it for her and turns out the phone sucks at life! Okay, now I'm just rambling :D

My first IPHONE was defective

How is an IPhone already refurbished??

I order an iphone on the first day, it came 2 weeks later and didn't work, kept freezing. I went back to Apple that day and they took it back and gave me a new one - so I am sure that one of those refurbished phones is mine! I love my iphone though!

Media also talks about Google coming out with a GPhone. It's rumored to be soon after labor day. I doubt it'll be slick as the iPhone, but may cause the iPhone to drop in price.

lets hope that its true spoof, ive been holding off on the iphone ever since i heard about the gphone.

GPhone, ..... droool.

who would gphone be serviced to.. i have verizon but the only "cool" phone is the blackberry 8830 world phone.. by the way, texting on the iphone is V-E-R-Y time consuming.. bc every letter key is like 1/4" x 1/4" button or something.. unless you have pointy fingers or fingernails.. hahah

Texting on the iPhone is NOT time consuming. Have you not looked at the keys on a blackberry as well? They're just as small.

If you use a blackberry for texting, you should not have any problems texting on the iPhone. The touch screen is very accurate. I have the Prada phone and it was a little difficult for first day or two but afterwards, like any other phone, you adapt.

GSM phones are the way to go.
