Several people seem frustrated with the random new threads that pop up all the time on topics not of wide relevance or interest. There's an easy fix...mods could merge all threads that are simple personal updates (status of one's health, one's children and grandchildren, one's job or lack thereof, etc.) into the "odd comments" thread, which is the appropriate place for them. The new threads in the discussion sections could be limited to things of wider potential use (posts that are humorous/informative, etc. etc.).


Along similar lines, the word games belong in the quizzes and games section, not in the discussion fora. This will help to streamline the off-topic discussion section.

This is so obvious that we all missed it.

And if my favorite Smilies list was not all spammed up (darn that new server switch) - there would be a big thumbs up for your suggestion.

Off Topic section is for "Off Topic" so I think it's ok for people to post about their life or something totally random. Whatever people want to discuss will be bumped up and non-interesting threads will be shifted down.

I do agree those games that continue to get bumped up should have their own section so people that want to ignore them can. I'm going to change "Quiza Palooza" to "Quiza Palooza and Games!" and move some threads over. Will make it a redirect for a bit though.

Perhaps "hidden message" should be moved to games as well ...
 
Perhaps we should start a whole new section called, "I want to be totally serious, all.the.time., I have a rod up my butt"....:theyareon.....

I suspect spelling matters, but in the negative -- poor spelling and grammar skills would probably be a plus.

The initial premise was that games which continue to get bumped up should be moved out. "hidden message" sure looks like a game, and I was nominating it for its rightful place in the games area.

Agreed, stop belly aching about everything you do not like about the site and the people here. If "YOU" build it they will come. I thought we were all supposed to be starting to get along around here, guess a certain select few wish to be excluded because they continue to be so negative about everything this site has.

And to think you are a teacher, poor poor students. I feel so sorry for them all :verysad:
 
I was actually thinking of combining all the "I won the Nigerian or UK lottery threads" but then I couldn't find too many (not that I looked very hard). :doh:

Monk is actually a very decent guy....and very funny!
It's a shame that when he speaks up he is personally picked on and that he can't express himself in any manner he sees fit.
Everyone has their own point of view on things. One annoys you, other people find a joy and vise versa.

Mr. Spoofee seems perfectly happy to hear the suggestions that people have (Preco and others who have made suggestions in recent times have had their comments welcomed---asking to have the hidden thread moved to games is no different). As long as the owner of the site doesn't mind, I don't see why it should be a matter of concern.

Ad hominem attacks don't help anything.

rep points, thread movements, no private groups, signatures etc, etc...

It is getting old with a quickness
 
It's a new system; I think people are just trying to figure out how it works, and thinking out loud about what features they would like to see more or less of. I don't see anything sinister in this and I wouldn't take it personally.
 
Since this involves a minority of members, can we take this off the main board and do a 'private group' thingy as not to up heave the entire board again?

It can be open to any member, just not hashed out in the main stream?

Just a suggestion?
 
I don't see anything that needs to be "hashed out".
Other people can be having the same issues. This puts it out there. I personally think it should stay right where it's at.

But at least it would be considerate to the rest of the board who is tired of witnessing kindergarten antics...... Is our objective to be constructive and build Spoofee back up?
