im in northwest houston. theres no way out since yesterday morning.
we should have been let go from work a lot earlier.

The awful part is what about the poor people who just moved to Houston from N'awlins?

I don't know. If my "work" boss said don't listen to the evacuation instructions, I need more work from you, I don't think I'd work there much longer after he got up off the floor. ;)

I don't think it'll be as bad as Hurricane Katrina. The reason New Orleans was devastating was because of the flood.. we'll see though.. I would be on the road if I was in Texas though. I'd be scared of looters going around breaking into homes that have been evacuated.

we were off today but i didnt close up the office yesterday till the last person left at 8:45pm, didnt get home till past 9:30pm last night.

the mayor just asked everyone on tv-telephone broadcast to go back to their homes for everyone still on the streets.. theres just not enough gas for everyone to leave and a lot of people are stranded on the roads now with no gas, no a/c, no water, no food.

My wife and I left Houston and headed to Dallas. We left @ 5am on Wed morn and about 5pm that day we made it to Dallas. Yes almost 12 hours of driving and that was with taking ever small back road that our Altas showed us. We got back yesterday and we didn't find any dammage with the exception of a few limbs on the ground.

Kage_, what side of town are you at?

i stayed in nw houston and power/water stayed on during the entire weekend. no damage seen in the neighborhood.

i think we are very fortunate this time, despite the shortage of gas around town.

ive got two tubs of water that i need to get rid of from the second floor! lol

I'm down on the SW side of town. Yup I was expecting to come back to find the tree in our backyard in the middle of our roof. Our neighbor said they power here was out for about 13 hours or so.

Can't you just pull the plug and train the tubs?

draining the water is fine, theres just some guilt when you know theres some areas of houston still waiting for water to come back on. ;)

just talked to one of my co-workers by 8 and 59, their home was out of electricity from 3am to 10 am saturday morning, now everything is running fine. a/c at 100° is a nice luxury!
