BAGHDAD, Dec. 26 — An Iraqi appeals court on Tuesday upheld the death sentence against Saddam Hussein and ruled that the man whose brutal reign began in 1979 and ended with the American-led invasion in 2003 must go to the gallows within 30 days.

Part of me says "Hoohrah!" and the other part of me thinks that like the famed Hydra in mythology, that when you "cut off one head, another one grows in its place!" There are sooooooooo many of these terrorists in training out there, that killing this demon will merely encourage them to "grow more" to replace him! What the heck makes these people tick besides hate, racsism, power hungry control, and a desire to be supreme in a very unsupreme world? Okay, Rags gets down from her soap box, shaking her head. Let's hope that we are blessed with a calmer, more peace filled new year for all of us here on Spoofee and our friends and family.

Sure, there were those 126 victims of his. But how does that compare to someone having a war on false pretenses in which there are 2000+ victims?

That's the second most IDIOTIC thing I've ever heard

True, why should we even entertain any value of life when the North Pole is melting???

BTW...DanC...that was the 3rd :p

WTF , how is Saddam a terrorist , he was leading a country as an elected leader and doing what he THOUGHT fit to protect the national security (as we are doing with the war).

Anyone who rejoices at the thought of him being executed has either been brainwashed by the Fox propaganda or just dosent really know much , i suggest reading up on the issue before you make jackasses of yourself.

He was the leader of a country a country which we cant seem to lead very well, so suddenly its of to kill 57,300 (current Iraqi death toll) in the name of democracy and national interest but not kill 126.

Im not advocating his actions and dont want to get into that discussion but he was the recognized leader of a country and the shame he has to go through now is well disgusting.

Hitler was also leader in a country in which he was 'elected' and behaved the way he saw fit. You can add Mussolini in that mix too. Should they have received a 'dignified' end and a 'turn of the blind eye' from the world around them? They were recognized leaders as well.

I'm not bringing this up to debate Iraq, but there needs to be a stronger argument than 'he was an elected leader and therefore doesn't deserve shame'.

I do not rejoice in anyone's death, but sometimes one's actions brings it upon themselves, justice/atonement. I would love to see this world filled with all pleasant and loving people, but that isn't the case and isn't going to happen.

Ummm believe me if the Axis won either of the WW we wouldn't be making the argument now. So in essence you agree that we should be able to take away power from any elected leader by force?

I bet there are a few country's who think what we are doing is wrong , So do they invade us and out bush on trial???

thats one of the reason diplomatic immunity exists.

You make a point but in our country I've yet to see ditches dug, people slaughtered and thrown in because they question 'the government' or dare to speak out or even just because he was in 'a mood'. We (our country) do not necessarily agree with every other country nor is every other country on our 'hit list'. So...I feel those countries that do commit such atrocities may deserve to be forcibly overthrown. As for Saddam, he's committed atrocities against his own people and humanity, and that is what he went to trial for. Diplomatic Immunity should not be a protective shield for such behavior.

I live in NY and believe me I see the abuse of 'diplomatic immunity'. From my understanding, it was created to protect the habits and/or culture of one when in another country, not to hide behind and abuse another or commit crimes.

And why didn't we or the UN put him on trial when he committed those atrocities?

I agree, he should've been brought to justice long ago. Perhaps his 'behavior' was 'purposely overlooked' because of other's political and financial gains. However, it doesn't excuse that he did commit those horrible acts and now he pays.

Should there be others beside him, absolutely. Are we (the US) angels in this world, no.

I hear bye wish to put preco on trial for the atrocities committed to Coon dogs :(
