Samsung 46" LNS4696DX 1080P LCD HDTV for $1699 Shipped

is this a decent deal? I need a new tv and haven't priced lcds in a while. I may have a free sony bravio lcd I may be getting from work next month but its 50/50, and I may not get it. Is this a deal I shouldn't pass up or are there usually deals like this? any input would be great, thanks

It's a pretty good deal. Most 46'' 1080p LCD HDTVs are going for around $2000-$3000. I would buy it but I already have a Sharp 46'' 1080p HDTV.

Yeah, I called up Fry's retail store in Chicago and they are selling them for $2,999 so it seems like a great deal. And yeah, thanks, the reviews look great for this LCD

Does anyone know what the "Commercial use 90 days" means in the description? I'm hovering over 'buy' but I'm worried that it hung as a display model for 3 months...

$2999 can't be right for that TV. You can get a nice 52" for about that much now.

As for a 46" 1080p, I prefer the Sharp since has a quicker response time. For a better deal, grab the Sharp for $1499 at Costco:

(Oh how it pains me to see that priced there when I paid $2200 for it just a short 6 months ago!)

Also, for what it's worth, Sony buys the majority of their panels from Samsung. A little food for thought when you see that pretty Sony priced $800 more than the equivalent Sharps and Samsungs.

I dont see that anywhere when I add it to my cart or in the description of the item.

Costco you pay $95 for shipping and handling plus tax ontop of that, so you end up paying almost as much as the samsung. Plus samsung make much better monitors from what i've seen, I have read alot of reviews on many 46" LCD and it seems like samsung gets the highest marks.

I checked with Fry's and they said that the 90 Days is the warranty length for commercial use, if you do not use commercially then the warranty is 1yr and can be extended through Samsung. These are BRAND NEW LCD's and NOT refurbs or floor models.

The tv u have linked is a 720p (or i), based on its native resolution, not a 1080p.

Yeah, its 720p. I didn't even notice that when I read his post. No wonder its $1,500. And there would be no comparison on a screen that large between the different resolutions.

Plus you would pay taxes and for costco to ship it.

Also the samsung listed here has a built in cable box, so if your paying comcast to rent their cable box, or HD cable box you could save per month around $10, at least thats what I think we pay to rent an HD cablebox. Saying I would probably use this tv for 5 years before I'd start looking for another, that means for me a saving of $600 for me. Even better deal when you look at it like that.
