Pricematch Help

I had a question about the whole pricematch and rebate process. I bought the hard drive on 4/29/06 and went back today (5/1/06) to do the pricematch. The guy said he wouldn't do a pricematch, but would return it and repurchase it with the pricematch, and I never gave him my credit card again.

He said I would not be able to do the rebate, is this true? The new reciept looks to be under the same ticket ( the ticket numbers are the same). On the new reciept it says orig date 4/29/06 and then also has todays date of 5/1/06 on there. I am not sure if this means my rebate status will still be valid or not?

Any thoughts on this would help. Thank you!
