It is the time to plant your seeds (indoor of course) get a flat (cardboard that soda's come in) line it with newspaper and some good dirt and some plastic wrap and get those seeds going. I love tomatoes in May, cucumbers and all that applies. When the freeze is long and gone (I live in OK) put them where the sun always shines, fence line is good so you can take those bread ties and put them to good use.

What month does it usually start getting warm around you?

You are definitely not in zone 5!

The time for planting indoor around here is Easter... we can't plant outside until after May 15th- or after Memorial day for things like Basil and other plants that can't tolerate the cold.

I am thinking we can't really plant until around the end of march here for indoor, and end of april or mid june for outdoor

I have broccoli, turnip greens, green onions, bell peppers and tomatoes growing in my back yard right now. Tomatoes should be ripe in about 3 weeks. Everything else, we're eating!
