Sharp Aquos 46" LCD TV + Blu-Ray Disc Player for $1349 Shipped

The good:
Accurate color after calibration; energy efficient; numerous picture controls; understated, numerous inputs including five HDMI; understated, no-nonsense styling.

The bad:
Uneven backlight uniformity produces banding; delivers lighter blacks than some LCDs; poor off-angle viewing characteristics; lacks dejudder video processing.

The bottom line:
The Sharp LC-46D85U's picture quality issues will give many potential buyers pause, but its dejudder-free 120Hz refresh rate might find some fans.

I have the 52" version - love it - not a single complaint.

Also, keep in mind that the majority of flat screen TV components and displays are made by Samsung and Sharp. I buy straight from the source....

Open most flat screen TV's and you'll see Samsung or Sharp boards and displays inside.

This is not a bad TV as HDTVs still got certain standards to meet. It 's hard to tell the difference unless it is done by the trained eyes. For example, I assure you that not that many people can tell the difference between 5 ms and 8 ms response time. It 's the minor difference that makes the huge difference in price among HDTVs. Of course, the producers of most TV screens got advantages of making good HDTVs, but the chemistry of putting all the parts together does matter. You still have to look at the overall performance of the product.
HDTV likes camera a lot, it is very personal. If you like it, then this is a good product for you.
