Can anyone offer some non-lethal ideas for dealing with four baby skunks that are living under our hedges? We feel that the mother has been killed and these little guys are on their own. They are soooo hungry and only a little afraid of humans~they are so tiny when you do startle them and they instinctively put their little tails in the air, they usually topple over!!

We do not want them as pets as we are respectful of wildlife but if four skunks reach adulthood and still live at our house, it's going to be ugly!:worry:

None of the local enforcement will help you unless the animal appears rabid (they do not) and in that case they just arrive to kill them.

We have Have a Heart traps that we have used to relocate squirrels and woodchucks (it's a virtual wild kingdom here!!) but if we trap these little guys no doubt they will spray the SUV down so bad during transport that I would probably have to burn it!!

Anyone have some humane suggestions for our littles stink blossoms??

Do baby skunks have the stink glands active?
I'm virtually ignorant on skunks (thankfully)

Is there a wildlife sanctuary in your area? They may not want 'em, but they may know how to move them safely.

Hi
Yes baby stinkers have scent glands, and learn quickley how to use them. Try baiting them away from your house with milke soaked cat food, they really love it. Just make some up, and put it in a neighboring bush, them as they move out, move the feed again the next day. They are sweet stinkers I know, and also will get accustom to people feeding them and start acting like pets... Dont get dragged into their game lol... They love you one minute and spray you the next.

I have no advice to offer other than maybe call a local vet's office and see if they can recommend anything.
How can such cute little things stink so much????!!!!!?????!!!!!

Oh my goodness! That is one cute little creature. We live in PA and have a game warden. It's different then law inforcement or animal control. I would call them.

awww that is a very cute lil skunk, it is so funny that they topple over after spraying  OMG my grandpa had to go in under their house after a skunk one time. It stuck its head in a jar then couldn't get it out so went whacky spraying and struggling. After that late nite adventure he trapped and gassed them with exhaust to a cage. No way I could do that to something that tiny and cute sweet, sure hope you've found a solution or do soon

little stinkers

After you catch them in the cage, strape them to the top of the SUV, and take them back to the wild, maybe that will help. If you are going to be going fast maybe cover one side of the cage to help with the wind issue.

good luck and keep us informed.:convinced:

Don't they love garbage? Man, those things are cute. I see them all the time where I live.
