A friend of mine has this hot cold pack that is in a soft material that is filled with Rice?? or Corn??? or something?? You can heat it in the mocrowave or Freeze it?? Has anyone seen one of these?? Do you know where I might find one? With a regular ice pack; they leak and you have to wrap them in something soft so you do not get frost bit.

I have seen them at several malls, in those booths in middle of the walk path.
good luck ;)

My mother-in-law made some of these with heavy-duty fabric on the outside (some type of heavy fleece) and then put rice inside with some spice. The spice almost looks like a thorny thing (and I couldn't describe it more than saying it is about the size of a peak); the bag smells so good when the bag is microwaved. Haven't tried freezing it but it would work just as well.

Thanks Guys! I found this Bed Buddy Hot /Cold on BB&B web site!

Here is the Sew it yourself Hot/Cold
RICE PACK

I have a GREAT IDEA! Why not Take a simple Stuffed animal and take the stuffing out and fill with rice (you can also use corn. I saw some sites for those as well!)? You might need to take the eyes off if plastic?? Not sure? Could test them in microwave. They should be ok as long as they are not attached with any metal. Then your critter would burn up. How sad!

Ba Ha I have it! I have a pair of Silly Socks I got for Christmas one year. The kind that have fingers where your toes go and they are multi-colored! I'll fill those! Cute! Then I'll have 2! One Hot one Cold!

The Rice Sock

What is a rice sock?

A rice sock is a tool that can be placed in the microwave for 2-3 minutes and will provide heat for about half an hour.

What does a rice sock do?

The rice in the sock absorbs the heat from the microwave and dispenses it slowly, providing a long-lasting and renewable source of warmth for the mother. The warmth can help to minimize the pain of sore muscles or relieve tension during labor.

A rice sock can also be used as a cold pack by placing the sock in the freezer for a few hours.

Depending on the size and shape of the sock, it may also provide some pressure for the mother, which can help ease a sore back.

How do I make a rice sock?

Fill a new cotton tube sock with dry, uncooked rice. Seal the end by tying.

You could also sew cotton fleece into any shaped "pillow" you would like and fill it with rice.

If you prefer, your sock can be filled with glass beads, buckwheat, dry corn or other dry, uncooked grain.

Some rice sock techniques:

Have the mother stretch the rice sock under her belly for relief of cervical discomfort.

The mother can "wear" the rice sock like a scarf on her shoulders to help remove some neck tension.

Roll the rice sock up and down the mothers lower back, adding pressure if necessary.

Very Cool!
Thanks

CLOVES! That is what my in-laws put in the bag so that it smelled really good when it is microwaved. So you get soothing heat and soothing scents at the same time.

I did but we are at work and her Rice buddy is at home. She doesn’t even know where it is. So on the way home. I’ll stop and get some of these supplies! YEA!
