(Sold Out) Casio Exilim EX-V7 7.2MP 7X Digital Camera for $143.98 Shipped

Call for Availability. Lets you put it in the cart and go to checkout, but under shipping info, it says Call for Avaliability. Less than an hour from when the OP was put up.

Exilims are known for their distortions. The EX-V7 has moderate distortion at the wide end of the zoom - 1.3% barrel distortion and as you move towards the telephoto settings, up to 1.5% pincushion distortion affects most of the longer part of range to some degree. Also obvious corner softness and vignetting issues. And then theres the noise reduction. It smears and blurs detail resulting in a loss of texture.

Although I have a good guess as to what most of your post means, it is far beyond my scope of photography knowledge...but I'll tell ya, I appreciate someone's opinion when the person knows what s/he is talking about.

I'm just a little bit glad this was sold out because I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive camera for my wife and I'd rather not buy anything that has multiple known issues, regardless of what kind of a deal I can get. It's never a deal when you're kicking yourself because of the piece of crap you have to deal with every time you want to take a picture - that's the issue we're having now :mmph:

Thanks for the post, Live.

Glad it could help someone.

Theres lots of good cameras out there for around $150. Im a Panasonic man, myself, but they can be pretty noisy at high ISOs and in low light conditions. Its hard to go wrong with any of the Canons. The A570 has similar specs to the Casio at 7.1MP but lacks the 7x optical zoom (Canon has 4x), much better image quality and better noise reduction as well.

By the way, dont take my word for it. Get your price range, see whats out there, and then visit steves-digicams or dpreview and read about them all. You may not understand all the jargon, but they back up their reviews with lots of example pics..
