It's a good choice, haven't really had any bad experiences with it.
 
yeah just bought this hd at frys with a external exclosure for 10 bucks (was 40, on sale) and it works great
 
Can't find it at frys.com.

I can find the L01F300 for $59.99, but no the L01Y300.
 
Bummer! This was an outstanding deal and I missed it! Maxtor's are nice drives and have great warranties if they ever go bad. I would recommend it if you are building your own external hard drive. That's exactly what I was thinking of using it for...but will now have to wait for the next similar deal. :-(
 
Btw, I just in my booklet of Costco coupons that become valid Jan. 7-27 that they have $60 off on the Iomega 750 GB external hard drive making it $189. That appears to be a really great proce compared to other 750 GB drives...
 
Excellent! If you have a Fry's Electronics near you...at least on the West Coast...They have the Maxtor 300GB SATA/300 hard drive on sale this week for $59.99. (limit 2 per customer).
