(Sold Out) Nintendo Wii Modchip Wiikey for $29.95 Shipped

I have the CycloWiz and it sucks. A bunch of Wii games do not work. So I may go and try the WiiKey instead.
 
I ordered a wiikey from modingmaniacs.com (since it was on wiikey's list of legit resellers) I however did order a wii component cable from this place selling the wiikey for 29.xx and they sent me shipping confirmation from hongkong right away. I dunno with all the talk of 'look-alike' chips and this site selling 'look-alike' ipod shuffles and such I chose to pay the extra 10 bucks and get it from a legit site that I know gets them right from the manufacturer. I cant wait for this bad boy to come in. Now the question is wether or not I want to make a serial port 'dongle' for chips or just go directly to the board.. We shall see..
otherwise at this point in time my feeling is this is the best chip out there as of now.

Definitely looking for some feedback on this. I may want to dabble with some imports if this is legit.
 
This modchip has the best track record so far, however, the last I heard modchips DO NOT work on the newer wiis that started shipping in late Jan.
 
Does this just unlock your region codes, or does it allow for playing backups? But the discs are proprietary, right? Cant buy blank ones in the right size?
 
where are you getting this info from picopir8 ive been around a bunch of fourms and havent read a single post about this chip not working.. it works on all wii's so far dms, d2a and d2b.. and LiveSquid its allows backups which are not a proprietary disc just a standard dvd.. here is the chips official homepage to clear up and questions.. http://www.wiikey.cn

Well, now. That changes things. I only bought an Xbox after leaning it was moddable. Same with the 360 and the Dreamcast. So maybe a Wii is in my future. It might be a couple of months before I can afford one, but Im going to give it some real thought.

Those are called clones.

I guess there isnt any copyright on this sort of item, so people clone them legally.
 
Now that I think about it, if you're system is connected all the time, then it's only a matter of time until Nintendo sends out patches to prevent any kind of modding (much like how they did with the one when the system first launched and with the 360 & psp).

Unless you don't want/need to buy the VC games and want all those new useless channels, new games, and/or online play (when it comes) then I'd think the chip would still function.
 
Wiikey is currently the best.
works with all versions, others dont.
only dvd upgradable chip.
compared to installing M2 in a ps2...it's a breeze.

app to back up wii games

now, that link I had from a LONG time ago... there might be newer proograms out now that do it faster/better.

I got a Wii first night (only seven hours in the cold unlike some that were there for several days. funnily enough the people that just showed up at 7:30 am got one, too!) and so I'm not worried about having a newer wii and it not working. I have researched wii chips a lot and found that the best thing to do is get one that is upgradable. That way, if nintendo does figure out a way to block the wii mod chips (although microsoft never did with the xbox) you can get an upgrade to stop it. My girls are notorious with wrecking CD's and managed to loose my wii-sports disc after a week :( that's my motivation for getting one so that I don't have to repurchase games due to disc failure.

If you turn off Wii Connect24 it keeps you Wii from connecting to the net while in standby. While in standby if the orange light is on Wii Connect24 is on and connected to the net. If the light is red Wii Connect24 is off.

I did a bit more research into this chip, it is one of only a handfull that support the newer consoles. If you bought your console since January, make sure it supports D2B chipsets and you should be safe.

Well, I just ordered the DVD Rom that is detailed in the instructions... we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the information!

Already did. If you have an HD TV, this gives you an HD picture on that set.

A Mod chip after it is installed, will allow you to play Gamecube and Wii Backups of your originals. So that you originals do not get scratched or ruined.

Do not use this for Piracy. Because Piracy is illegal. :bigok:
