Why would anyone assume that the unit is in plain view so that it can be easily stolen? Further I did not suggest that a 1TB drive is required or needed, only provided a 1TB cost so others would be able to look a the cost of a functional system. Clearly, a smaller drive would be less expensive. Maybe the commenter should provide guidance for the multitude of companies that make and sell video surveillance systems with local storage.
