I've been using these systems on several slightly older Epson models.

CIS (Continuous Inking Systems) [NoMoreCarts.com]

Initial cost is about $200-225 incl ink but first set of bottles goes for as many as 12 cartridges cycles. Takes a little bit for installation, but saves me a fortune on all my photo printing. I use 740's and 1160's

Covered Models
CIS#
750 CIS Compatible with the Epson Photo 750
860 CIS Compatible with the Epson 740, 760, and 860
880 CIS Compatible with the Epson 880*
890 CIS Compatible with the Epson Stylus Photo 870, 875, and 890
900 CIS Compatible with the Epson 900 and 980
1160 CIS Compatible with the Epson 1160
1200 CIS Compatible with the Epson Photo 1200
1270 CIS Compatible with the Epson Stylus Photo 1270, 1280, and 1290
2000 CIS Compatible with the Epson Stylus Photo 2000P

interesting... how's the ink quality?
Unfortunately the couple EPSON PHOTO printers I have (785, 820) are not in the list you posted...

The question is for photo printing on photo paper, how long will those inks last before they start to discolor or fade? It looks like a great system but how reliable is the ink for photo printing?

Quality is excellent and you have a choice of inks!

Figure out how to get your best digital image to me and I'll mail you a sample. I have a high speed server or you can send a cd, size doesn't matter, I'll make you an 8x10 or so. Send email to [email protected] removing no spam and we can setup the details about it.

Also, I have yet to beat Costco's price for Epson Photo Paper 100's for $19.95 and sometimes has an instant $5 rebate at the register.

InkJetArt.com is the reseller of the CIS and has a variety of inks to choose from (see link below). I use the OEM Match X70 "Lightfast" and I find it excellent. For a bit more money you can by something that's a bit more archival. But stick with your choice, it's a pain to clear and reink the system. I try and get my hands on any dead, dying, or ignored Epsons I can. I refurb them and add the ink system to resell.

Here's some Ink choices...
