Sony 8x4x12x Internal DVD±R/RW Drive For $54 After Rebates Read Note

Staples has a great deal on the Sony 8x4x12x DVD RW. They have a ratings of 7.5/10 from ZDnet.

Note : It is recommended that you send the rebates to two different addresses. If both rebates do not go through, final cost is $84.38.

1. Click here to print out a 12% off coupon.
2. Go to your local Staples.
3. Pick up item #522158 Sony 8x DVDRW for $159.98
4. Instant Savings : -$30.00
5. Use your coupon at the cash register.
6. Rebate1 Price : -$30.00
7. Rebate2 Price : -$30.00
Final Price : $54.38

i check the staples.com's website. it shows as $15 instant saving and $15 coupon saving. Thus, shouldn't stores instant saving be $15 only as well? If my calculation is right...

$159.98 - $15 (Instant Saving) = $144.98
$144.98 - $144.98 * 12% (Coupon Saving for Stores) = $127.58
$127.58 - $30 (Mail-In Rebate 1) = $97.58
$97.58 - $30 (Mail-In Rebate 2) = $67.58 (That is if it goes thru)

Not Bad...^_^

yeah but they have sony dvdrs for $25 for 25. Great deal too. I wonder who makes them? Might be sony but probably not.

Sony 8x4x12x Internal DVD±R/RW Drive
Reg. $159.98 - $15 Savings - $15 Coupon Savings
- $30 Mail-in Rebate =
$99.94

Sony 4x 25/Pack 4.7GB DVD+R Spindle
Reg. $49.98 - $23 Savings
- $2 Coupon Savings =
$24.94

The calculations are correct. When you purchase in-stores, they automatically give you the $30 off.

So it would be

$129.98 (store price) - 12% off coupon = $114.38
$114.38 - $30 rebate1 - $30 rebate2 = $54.38

If you do it online, you cannot use the coupon. You can however pricematch to some other online stores.

I'll pass on this. It's too risky, especially since I bought my Pacific Digital 4x Multi-Format for $30 on Friday. I think that is a better deal, since the rebates are guaranteed. I don't want to spend $60-$80 for this drive. If I wanted to spend $80, I'd get a Lite-On or a Pioneer, as the new Sony's aren't even made by Sony anymore.

heh

Heh, ya will pass but rather get a lite-on? You do realize sony's new burners are rebadged Lite-ons right? :p

Dl

Im looking for a killer deal on a Dual Layer upgradable one. Thats what I want next.

LiteOn/Sony
812S/U18A: very likely (>90% probability)**
451S/851S: iffy (~30% probability?) (i.e., not impossible, but don't count on it)

NEC
2100A/2500A: very likely (>90% probability)**

BenQ
822: BenQ will officially release a DL upgrade on Sept. 30

This is a list of DVD burners upgradeable to dual layer (or in the case of the BenQ will be) but what model is this sony thats on sale? It might be upgradable...

Read the fine print

On Coupon 1 it says "Offer cannot be combined with Sony promotion #03-67946. " :(

Of course Coupon 2 is Sony promotion #03-67946.!

Yes, thats the reason for the note above. This is a risky deal, thats why Spoofee noted you should send one to another address. :)
