eCost has this for $98 AR and only $1.99 shipping.

This is a great price for an external dual layer rewriteable and even better since its a Sony!! :bigok: :bigok:

Hurry before it sells out!

Yeah... I bought a LaCie for my Mac for $91, but I considered buying the Sony also. Both very nice drives.

Can't be a Sony, they haven't made them since they made those 4x writers. They just rebag these days.

Not a good deal. Better off buying a DVD drive for $40 and a drive enclosure for $20.

bubbafett, why don't you find and post better deals rather than just posting negative comments when people try to post deals?? It appears that most of your posts are just that. Most people are capable of deciding whether a deal is good for them or not without reading your comments.

hm...finally I see external dual layer burners on for sale........although, the strange thing is that I NEVER SEE in any sale ads of the dual layer discs being priced on sale........

No offense to Big daddy but I think showing cons for a product such as what bubbafett does is good sometimes. Could he reword and the way he types his comments sure. He could suggest " this product has been known to..or for $40 ur better off going with internal.

but thanks for the heads up on the Sony External

No offense taken, but as you said its all in the approach. If you say "That's a great price for a Sony, but you may want to consider getting this X brand burner at http://www.spoofeesgreatburnerdeal.com for $39.99 and then get an enclosure at http://enclosuresrus.com for $20" that's one thing, but not to offer a real and currently valid alternative or to say I got an X brand burner for 3 cents two months ago, is just a useless comment IMHO.

Personally I don't care what comments are made if I post a deal, but such comments may prevent some good deals from being posted because someone doesn't want to be "rejected" or proven wrong. For example if someone saw an item that appeared to be a good deal to them but they don't have time to research prices and similar items, they may not list it because certain people might shoot holes in it and I think Spoofee and the mods would prefer people to list the deals and let the people decide.

IMHO I'd rather see 50 new deals posted a day with only 10 deals are "great" than see only 10 great deals posted. Beauty (and deals) are in the eye of the beholder.

Agreed.

This Sony deal is pretty good. A lot of people, like myself, like to have a nicely packaged drive. The truth is, having a nice external drive is a little bit nicer than throwing an internal in an enclosure. My LaCie is proof of that. The casing is heavy, it all fits well, etc. I'm not saying that the Bytecc enclosure on my 200GB Seagate is bad, but there's something nice about getting everything packaged nicely in a box.

Yes, but if you get your own case you can put anything you want in it.

I wish people wouldn't call it a Sony, its probably a Liteon.
