Actually they are the same headphones, except one comes with a extender cable which people say causes problems.

Actually, there's more of a difference than just that. The 71, has i believe 3 different sizes attachment instead of the two that the 51 has. Also the 71 is made rubber instead of plastic on the sides, which feels a lot better to while it's in the ears. I guess it really comes down to a matter of taste, but I thought some people would like to know there are other models out there.


I for one perfer the extender, a shorter wire works great for mp3 players with remotes, and the extender can be used when needed.

Yes, the 71's are for use with MP3 remotes. The 51's with everything else.
