spam software

i'm looking for any spam/ad popup blocking software that is good and very cheap.

spam sucks

I actually just use the built in junk mail filter in the new Outlook 2003. It filters most of the junk mail to a "Junk E-mail" folder where I can choose to look at it and delete it or just let it go. It gets most of the spam out, but leaves promotional messages from retailers etc., I just use the default setting. I'm sure there are others.

For spyware/adware I use "Spybot - Search & Destroy" and "Ad-Aware".

For web pop-up blocking the Google IE toolbar comes with a pop-up blocker and works pretty well. I'd say it takes care of about 90% of pop-up ads.

All three of these are freeware.

yea.. i have the google toorbar, but stuff keeps popping up outta nowhere. i accedentally installed some stupid adware thing once, but i found where it was and uninstalled it, but i still get a few lame pop ups even though i just barely opened an IE window

If you haven't tried Spybot for spyware, give it a go. I'd recommend it more after using Ad-Aware a lot more. It really works, and it's free.

If you use Spybot, you can load up the included host file from there. And it blocks most of the pop-ups and banner ads.
