Back to School items are exempt from the retail sales tax during the first weekend in August (Aug.4th through Aug. 6th this year). Please, see the detailed information and the list of eligible items at http://www.tax.virginia.gov/site.cfm?alias=STHoliday

I just bought 3 boxes of disposable diapers for my 2-year old at Target - saved about $5 in sales tax!!

This year, a record 14 states are offering a tax-free weekend. While it is nice to not pay taxes, saving 7.5% off of retail isn't worth me fighting the crowds. It might make a difference on the purchase of a computer, but if you spend $100, you would only save $7.50 (where I live anyway). Gas is $3 a gallon, so to me it's not worth it. But if you are interested, here you go.
