T-Mobile is offering a Nokia 1208 prepaid phone + $25 prepaid refill card for $19.99 shipped.

It's a great phone to have for emergency purpose. Just buy it, shut it off and store in your glove compartment.

The Nokia 1208's Standby time: up to 14.5 hours??
That's way too short.

From "Prepaid terms & conditions:"

Calls 15¢/minute. Service is $1/day, even on days you do not use your phone.

I'm very confused by the differences in PAY BY THE DAY and PAY AS YOU GO!!!!

Can you buy this and trash the pay-as-you-go stuff and just have a back up phone to pop your sim into if needed?

Or is there something to prevent that?

If your like me and thats what this would be fore then they have the Nokia 1661 for the same price with much better standby time
Size: 1.8 x 4.3 x 0.5
Weight: 2.9 ounces
Included battery: 860 mAh Lion
Talk time: up to 4.2 hours
Standby time: up to 20 days
Band (frequency): 850 MHz;1900 MHz

20 DAYS are you serious thats awesome, But no free $25 prepaid card.

You can only pop in your T-mobile SIM card because the phone is "locked" onto the T-Mobile Network. So for example if ur old cell is T-mobile no prob, but if you want to pop in your AT&T SIM, then no dice unless you can get the phone "unlocked"

This is a good deal for a back up phone. These newer Nokias like the Nokia 2610 that T-Mobile offered last year for FREE after rebate cannot be unlocked, so you are stuck using it w/ T-Mobile. Too bad they dont sell phones w/ cameras cheaper.

thank you. This seems like a very cool deal for a back up phone
