T-Mobile has sent out a change in their contract effective March, 2004. If you wish to terminate your contract without a fee, now is the time.

1. Take a look at these forms.

http://shop.t-mobile.com/checkout/terms_conditions.html
2. Call 1-800-T-MOBILE
3. Choose options to cancel service.
4. Mention to the customer service rep that you do not like the Regulatory Programs Fee of $0.86 per line and you would like to cancel because you do not agree to it.
5. The customer service rep will offer you a free month or give you the cancellation.

AT&T recently added a regulatory programs fee too, and they just added another the other month.

I think I was a subscriber after the regulatory fee, but not this other tax. Is it worth it for me to give it a try too? Even though I don't really need to get out of my contract..

If it works for AT&T let us know. This is what I have been looking for.

I need Verizon to let me do this! A $175 early termination fee is outrageous!

I'll let you know but I probably won't try, as I have no problem with my AT&T service.

Maybe I'll try this with T-Mobile for my dad as he is on a killer deal with them for the rest of the year contract, only a few months (he gets the Get More $40 600 minutes for $30 a month) but I've been wanting to switch him to an AT&T family plan with me for a while, so I'll probably be trying this later today.

Especially since lately calls that I've been making to his number are sometimes routed to another guy's phone, I haven't even called T-Mobile about that yet, but that's slightly disturbing. I'm lucky that not many people call my dad's phone, but we'll see what happens..

I've been trying to get away from T-mobile for months. If I do this will I still have the option to keep my number with another service such as verizon?

for sure... let me know about ATT. their service in the central CA valley sucks ass. id love to get out of this contract.

I had the same problem when people would call me and it would route to someone else's phone. When I called customer service, they said that the other individual had my phone number programmed into their phone--that they never had it reprogrammed once they terminated service. I missed a ton of phone calls and finally dumped the service. It was with Verizon.

Apparently Verizon have also added/increased this fee

Not sure if it will let you get out of the contract without the outrageous fee however.

So theoretically as a verizon user I should be able to get out of my contract too...

Funny though, I wanna get out of Verizon to use T-Mobile, which everyone is bashing! T-Mobile has a great deal of $60 a month for 2 phones sharing 800 anytime minutes and unlimited night and weekends. If their service is no good however, I may be better off sticking with Verizon. They are expensive but the service is extremely reliable.

when?

When was this letter supposed to be sent?

can anyone still call even if they haven't recieved this letter?

and wat about the cancellation fee?

Verizon (Ohio) changing terms also

Notice in bill received yesterday, change effective April 13, 2004.

Three changes
  • How minutes from out of area are applied
  • Call forwarding minutes now count against monthly usage
  • VOice mail now counts against monthly usage

Form numbered as "750781 OMOH0204"

This may be an "out" and a way to avoid $175 cancellation fee they impose.

If they "breach" the contract, can we charge them the $175? ;)

I am happy with my service..you think I can milk them for a free month? hahaha Just a thought

i tried this with ATT, this afternoon and they said that since they dont have fees or charges in their contract it is a non-issue.
if anyone can debate this...let me know. since att is going to be cingular id really like to leave.

What's wrong with Cingular? That's what I want to switch to. I currently have Sprint

ATT do have that dumb regulartor fee...i had to argue for them to hold off on that fee for 6 months

Why would you switch from AT&T? When they combine they will now have extended coverage, double the spectrum, and double the capacity. AT&T has the fastest wireless internet, but poor custumer service. The only reason I would switch is if I had the MPX200 and I wanted a phone with more coverage that I could get for free.

You won't see the implementation between AT&T and Cingular for a while. I like my AT&T service right now, but what's bad about it becoming Cingular? They're only going to become the largest GSM footprint in the US, how can that be bad? And anything is always better than AT&T's customer service and billing systems...
