My local Target started their 90% off Christmas/Holiday clearance today. Bagged some great stuff for next year.

You might want to check it out!

WV - but I think all Targets follow the same clearance schedule.

Thanks for the update!

Apparently they aren't all on the same schedule this year...

Some people in another loop I'm in have been scouting the Targets for 90% off and only one store in the area (to my knowledge)has gone to 90%. There have been rumors that Target was going to stop the 90% off clearance because it wasn't worth the effort.

I scouted yesterday, but didn't have the energy to get up to check it out today. Plus... it would have clashed with my New Year's resolution which is to buy less stuff and use what I have...

I'm cursed... :-)

I am sorry but I have to vent. I will not shop in a target store ever again. I tried to return some clothing that my daughter got for a christmas present. The lady at the return desk told me that my reciept had expired and that I could not return them or exchange the items. The best she could do was to give me a gift card for $20. This was half the price of what the clothing was purchased for. I usually do not shop in target being that the closest one to me is an hour away but after this situtation I do not have any desire to shop at any target store for anything.

TOTALLY understand. I was really unhappy when they went to this 3 months then the receipt expires thing. I stopped shopping at Fields when they did that (shouldn't have... now it's a Macy's... YUCK!). So for a lot of things- especially clothing- I shop at Carsons, Van Maur, Hanna Andersson, etc because the receipts never expire.

However, I think all the "discount" stores have limits on their returns now. And since I'm generally at a Target once a week (maybe less now due to the New Year's Res), I don't have a problem with the return thing.

They just need to build one closer to you! Believe me... you'd be hooked if they did! Their clearances are the best!

I don't know. Maybe I'm just too easy to get along with. But it seems to me that a store should have the right to cut off the returns at some point. And three months seems like a fair length of time to wait.

If anything, I'd say the person who gave the gift is rude to have made you think it might be returnable.

But you got $20 out of it, so, always look on the bright side of life.

When we were there earlier, a sales associate said they would be putting items out all weekend.

I agree with the returns, but as tigger mentioned, most stores now have stricter rules for their returns. And Target has always had a funky return policy.

My sister tried taking back baby clothes to Toys R Us earlier this week with no luck. The tags were attached, but she didn't have a receipt. They couldn't search for the transaction by phone number to locate the receipt because they were probably purchased at the other Toys R Us 25 miles from here - so she is stuck with them unless she tries the other store.

I don't understand why their computer system can't find it at the other location, but beware at Toys R Us. They won't even give store credit without the receipt or being able to look it up.

Thanks for thinking the person who gave me the gift is rude but I can't really say that the person is rude being it was my mother and she was unaware of the 3 month return thing when she purchased the clothing.

As for getting the $20 back I told them they could keep it. My daughter will eventually grow into the clothes.

I agree that 3 months is an adequate amount of time to return something. But on the other side, if I am shopping for a Christmas gift that I think may need to be returned, I won't buy it if it does not fall within the return deadlines. I don't want someone to end up with a gift they can't use, then my money is wasted.

But if your mother was unaware, then it's basically a lesson learned.
