Spring is around the corner and I am trying to establish my front yard to look presentable. My yard is only Two years old and I don't know much at all about landscaping,etc... I am starting to get a few weeds to pop up in my yard and just put out some weed and feed last weekend. I have some grass now, it is a mixture of everything, What I was wondering was if anyone had any advice on taking care of my lawn, keeping the weeds out, and growing healthy grass. I am trying to find a timeline of events like when to put out fertlizer, seed, etc. I live in the South (Rockingham,NC ; home of Bucky Covington on American Idol if anyone is watching , hehe :claps: )

Have you considered hiring a porofesional landscaperer? They do wonders

Yea, I have considered, but I feel so much better when I do it. :) Makes me proud of what I can acomplish. And when people ask - I can say I did it, instead of saying "yea I hired so and so"... ;)

I believe I have enough weapons for this coming spring season: Weed-B-Gone, Roundup, Talstar One (pesticide), Image (crabgrass), Fertilome fungicide, Sulfur (to soften soil), and bunch of others I don't remember anymore...

I heard this tip from someone who used to own landscaping business: mix Weed-B-Gone with soap before applying. He said the soap will make it stick and it works much stronger.

Yeah, I like to do things myself, too. But I just hate to wait weeks before seeing any results...

What if you hire them just to get you started and to become 'lawn wise', you can take over in a few weeks?:05:
**then next year, you'll be prepared and have a better start up! ;)

Not a bad idea!! ;)

just be sure to tell them over the phone, instead of when they come over for a job, that you dont want them doing your lawn anymore, so they dont dump a bag of birdseed over your lawn

 That would be *the* worst! I had a birdfeeder on our balcony one year. Birds are very messy eaters! Actually... I think the cardinals were coming along and spilling everything out to get to the sunflower seeds. In any case, a lot of it dropped on a garden that we have below and we had the worst weeds in that garden all summer long. UGH!
