The $39 Dollar Experiment: Asking Random Companies for Free Stuff

I came across this mans web site and was amazed at what he did.
He explains everything and it is very simple to do.
He randomly selected companies and wrote to them asking for free
samples, sometimes he asked for very specific items.
He lists the companies and the brief letter he wrote and the results.
It is amazing. He received a lot of valuable things.
Anyone can do this and from what he shows here it would be both
fun and profitable to do.
Definitely worth looking at this if you like freebies.

I really enjoyed reading about this guy's adventure. Personally, not enough hours in the day for me to do it, but very interesting.

Also one can save postage & stationary by emailing them instead of writing them.
I have done this too with some companies & have gotten free cpns & mfg cpns
& other free items just by letting them know how much I like their products. I do this
too when emailing them on a complaint.:)

tap dancer, are you are you close to me in va?

Other than the compressed air, unless you have a dog, you would pretty much not get a return on your investment. Coupons are easy enough to come by and only encourage you to buy stuff you don't need or want otherwise. And calliing a Mercedes keychain a $30 value? Give me a break! And what ewlse was there? Things like pens? Ooh!

It was an interesting read, though. I wouldn't go through the hassle (and money) to mail letters, but I might go ahead and try e-mailing a few companies to ask for some coupons and samples. I'll probably only ask for things I know I like or would like to try.

I'm not quite sure why everyone is focusing on the fact that this guy sent snail mail. It was a personal project and a quite interesting one at that. If you decide to take on a similar project, you obviously have the freedom to email company's if you wish. What's interesting about him is the actual project, not the medium that he chose to accomplish it. Frankly, I don't mind coupons or pens and I'm surprised that anybody belonging to a freebies website would either. I think he did a great job putting all of his work out there and I plan to learn from it. Thanks for the post Ronshere! If you find anything similar, please keep us informed!

I e-mailed several companies and most said that they don't offer coupons or samples and to check my local papers for coupons. Vlasic and Skintimate promised to send me a coupon for being a loyal customer. And a few tea companies said they'll send some samples for me to try.
