Probably people that have been brought up in a different culture than yours. Thats who. Now how childish is it to make fun of someone's name? Last time i heard that was in the school playground.

According to Wikipedia:

Emanuel's first name, Rahm (רם) – high or lofty in Hebrew – is the namesake of one Rahamim (surname unknown), which means mercy in Hebrew, killed in the 1940s fighting for the outlawed Zionist group Lehi

Why is laughing at someones name from a different ethnic background funny? Sorry I guess I just don't get it.

:peace: I'm sorry you don't --- it was the way she put it - like the spoof of a song. It's got nothing to do with the names -- don't sweat the small stuff - some of us don't. It's kinda like being able to take a joke...:shhh: PS: I am Portuguese - PM me to find out my own "silly sounding" birth (and legal) first name... but I'm Lisa to the outside world - I guess it's all in how you look at things. I tend to be rather happy and positive :)

Oh, Jeez - get off the soapbox allready --- it's quite slippery this time of year. I still get stares because of my ethnic first name - which is one not used at all in this country. Make fun of me any time you want and I'll laugh with ya. PM me if you'd like to know what it is... I'm sorry but I think taking things WAY too seriously and intolerance - not necessarilly ignorance - is the cause of a lot of problems. And, yes, I DO have feelings and they get just as hurt as the next guy's. Let's lighten things up here, OK?

Politics are fair game...period. I have never made fun of a Spoofer's name, their family or children, or their cultural background. On the contrary, it is usually me that comes to their defense. Newspapers, magazines, the internet is full of comic book humor regarding politics. If I have offended your sensibilites I am sorry, but this is one time that I cannot in good conscious apologize for your politically thin skin.

did i mention anything political? no.. i just think your comments are childish.. and usually are. And anyways ms. mez.. i'm usually not on the soapbox and have a higher tolerance for crap. You can ignore me if you want, but thats just how i feel.

You are of course entitled to your opinion. It is entirely based upon political banter that you stipulate that I am childish only for poking fun at what our media considers fair game. I never have made any cultural or racial slurs just playing a rhyme game that you apparently found insulting. I didn't slam you, your name, or your avatar. Therefore it is apparent that your stance is political fodor. Again, not my problem, but yours. You don't like my posts, block me, and don't read them. Yawn......

Wow and here I thought this thread WAS the end of childish things but is more like a showcase. Geez, Dan, thanks a lot.

Just goes to show......there is no end to childish things....

Another broken political promise....

Just trying to generate a little non-greenhouse gas producing heat for everyone watching the glaciers moving across their neighborhoods.

:) Of course, your opinion is certainly respected and, if you believe that certain comments or the opinons of others are juvenile, great. I am obviously aware that - thankfully - in this great country of ours we all have the right to print and share those opinions. If my comments offended what you believe, you obviously have the right to say so. I totally respect that. As for me, life is WAY too short for me to be concerned about what others think about what I do or say. I enjoy your posts, Scoopons and I hope that we can find a way to agree to disagree. :peace:
