This one might be morbid, but it's important - Free Living Will

Brief story, I promise! Many of you have read my posts about my motorcycle benefit for a dear friend who was critically injured following an accident in May. Good news (everyone please read on, it's really important) is that the event was so much more successfull and profitable thanks to all of your suggestions, thanks, and he is back to part time work and some semblance of a "normal" life. Bad news (and this is where we all need to listen up!) is that, even after TWENTY SIX YEARS of marriage, his wife was legally UNable - without a medical living will and proxy - to decide ANYTHING regarding his medical treatment. She had to file a legal motion to petition for "guardianship" of a man she's been in love with for 30 years, just to have a say in the decision of choice for his physical rehab facility! Have the HIPPA laws gone to far? That's up to you to decide. Until you do, I higly suggest you complete one with your loved ones and leave copies of your wishes with friends, family and - most importantly - the nearest hospital or medical facility. We never know what the future may hold. My hubby and I have since complete our free forms and have given copies to those that should have them. Give it some thought and check these out if you're interested:

My mother was just discharged from the hospital after cracking her pelvis. I was able to direct her care in PA from VA because she became confused and I was her durable power of attorney. I thought my dad was crazy when he had me sign them years ago. Seems he was smarter than I was! Thanks for the post. These documents are worth their weight in gold.

Not morbid at all....I see unprepared people on a daily basis, wish everyone was well prepared for the inevitable!

TY ladymez, not morbid at all, life happens, all that it may bring, so wise to be prepared in everyway possible. My cousins 18 yr old son was killed in an auto accident 2 yrs ago, she spoke of how if he had lived, which would have been severely brain damaged, she would not have known his wishes, how that would have upset her. She is obviously still devastated he is no longer with us, as is our family, just one of those things, we never know what the future holds, I TY, I have been seeking these documents.

Not morbid at all.
I want to make sure my pets are taken care of!
I have tried searching on the internet for one but have not been able to find one till now!
A huge thank you!
