Yesterday evening my family and I went out for dinner.Well we had a great dinner, then after ran another errand before heading home.It usually takes us an hour to go home.We arrived back home somewhere between 8:30-9:00.
My MIL and daughter were out sitting on the back porch having their evening smoke, when my daughter taps on the patio door, motioning me to step outside and my mother-in-law was shouting "Ed come here".Since we live in Florida,my mother-in-law was asking my husband Ed if the space shuttle can still be seen in space. He told her no,as it already landed.
For a good five minutes,we watched this bright light in the sky.It just froze in the sky and didn't move.It looked like a shiny diamond, just twinkling. My daughter said turn the porch light off.It basically lit up the night sky thats how bright it was.Then...out of the blue, the light in the sky went out and it was gone.
So...my family and I think we saw a UFO last.Thats when I shut my computer off very swiftly and ran into bed and covered my head up.

:stupid: I guess you've never seen a ...... s a t e l l i t e before

No seriously....is that what it was?I have never actually seen a satellite so I had no idea.I'm sorry.

Yup. Satellite. Most likely, anyway... Ive seen two things I cant explain, but only one of them has to do with the pin-pricks of light.

In Mississippi, my friends family has property a half hour out of the nearest town, so theres no light pollution. We've seen little star-like lights move across the sky, stop, turn off, turn on, move, etc. We see eight or ten of them a night when we look. Occasionally we see them make turns. And just this one time, I got the feeling that .. well, this makes me sound crazy, so nevermind. lol

Thats not to say that thats all its possible to be. Theres no way of knowing for sure. do do do do, do do do do ....

MrsK, Ya never know about those night skies. Living out in the "boonies" and on the water, I often grab the binoculars, and, sit outside to star gaze, especially in the winter time. (Less bugs) Satellites do indeed track patterns, but, often meteor showers will burn out as well, and, they leave a "signature blink blink" behind.

Shucks, I am educated enough to understand that it would only be our arrogant human nature to assume that we are the only intelligent species in the universe. The way I figure it is, there are inded other life forms trying to figure out what makes our human species so dam messed up! ;)

Keep star gazing!
Rags :)

No need to apologize for asking a well thought out question. At least you had the courage to be inquisitive enough to postulate the query.:)

Well this one was as bright as the North star.It stayed still in the sky and didn't move.Then...****poof***it was gone.It was like the light went out and it disappeared. It was the first time that I have ever seen something that actually gave me chills down my spine.:sus:

You know, I often wonder if such anomalies:convinced: s are allowed to merely give us pause and raise our sensabilities?

Thanks spaz.. that was enlightening... =D

Well since you turned off your porch light, i couldn't find your house, the butter pecan ice cream was melting, so I had no choice but to go home.

I'll call first next time.

Huh, that's a third time someone complains about my left eye night light! :ignore: :28:

I heard about a comet exploding recently, making it viewable to the naked eye? I am thinking I saw it on AOL news or real news, not sure which? Could that be it?
