They are free at tivo.com with minimum of 1 year of service (which you need anyway)

PM me if you get one pls. TIVO rules and so does :beer_yum:

it is 155 for the one year and 299 for lifetime. keep in mind that these systems are refurbished.

The reason I don't own a Tivo system yet is because it forces you to sign up for there service. I could care less about the TV guide service. If I want to know what's on then I'll look it up on Yahoo.

OR just get a dvd recorder, they often come with a tv guide & are free of any subscription obligations.

btw, 'lifetime' refers to the unit itself & how long it works, so as long as its working, you get to use your $299 subscription.

If you're going to get Tivo, I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting it with DirecTV. Then you can tape two shows at once or watch two shows at once. :bigok: :bigok: Plus I think the Tivo receiver is $50 or $100 whether you currently have DirecTV or not. Only thing is that you will need a subscription to Tivo and DirecTV, but once you have it, you'll never go back.

The only bad thing about the direct tv is that you cant network it to your computer. i have my tivo netowked and i can download all the shows to my computer that i record. Plus you can pull pictures and music from your computer right to your tv. very cool id you have a surround sound system in your house.

Of course if you already have a tivo (this would be your second tivo) then the subscription fee is only $6.95 per month.

I have 2 tivo's and have replaced the hard drives in each of them so now have over 250 hours of recording time each (I have shows from February that still show that they are in danger of being overwritten if more of my shows come on). Anyway, not all of the DirecTv tivo's have 2 tuners, and I don't know if they are even series 2 -- we have 1 DTv tivo at work that is 2-tuners but it is only a series 1 with no USB ports (i.e., no networking capabilities) and we just purchased it from Sony/DTv rep like 1 1/2 years ago which was well after they stopped making Series 1 stand alone units.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Reason they are so cheap is cuz Comcast has DVRs you can rent for $9.95 per month.

i had dvr and it is not network compatible, if this is not a big deal then i would say get a dvr from your cable company, but there is so much more you can do with a tivo.

Buy.com has the tivo 40 hour for 94.99 and there is a coupon for 10 off of 75. (84.99) Send me a pm if you would like it.
