I'm not a big fan of renamings, myself. I still call the one north of Grand Central the Pan Am Building.
(but I guess you all already knew I'm a conservative.)
The view from the building wouldn't be quite so weird if there were other buildings around it. I can't imagine what the status value is of having such a tower in such a location. It took the Empire State Building about 10 years before it was full tenanted. I don't think this one will ever be.
