Did get one from Amazon. No optical output indeed. Player I had didn't ouput audio everytime I turned it on. Had to restart it everytime to hear sound. Didn't like that a new machine didn't work out of the box. So returned it to Amazon. Good thing they accepted it, paid for the shipping, and gave me a refund. Phamplet in the box says defective machine should be sent to Toshiba. Hell no! Toshiba ain't paying for the shipping. I got one of their defective machines and now they want me to pay to send it to them to get it fixed/replaced? What the f*ck? So instead of paying 55 (at the time), I'd been paying 60. That could've gone towards an S-Video cable.

It's a nice player though, for the price that Amazon is selling it at.

Did get a KOSS KD365 at Sears. Had to use coupons though to get it for $40. I was skeptical about the player, but it's a decent player. Has a glow in the dark remote control.
