Hubby and I are looking at buying a DVD Entertainment system for our "future" new-used car. Instead of buying a car with the Entertainment system installed (because unless we find a used car w/entertainment system, which is rare, it costs a minimum of $3,000 to have one that doesn't void any warranties installed aftermarket), we are thinking of buying a portable one. We'd only use it on long trips any way so we think it will work out better for us.

So... does anyone have one? Like it? Don't like it? I am POSITIVE that there is someone out there that is much more knowledgeable on this subject than we are!

We don't mind "high end". Hubby just looked on the Best Buy site for a research starter and the most expensive ones are $500- we'd still be saving $2500! We would like of like the infrared headphones, but I guess it's not totally a necessity. We have young kids (3 and "way under") so we can't do handheld ones just yet.

I find that when I watch a movie while driving....I get beeped at a lot. Sorry I can't be of any help!! ;)

put on earphones so you dont hear the beeps

tell the person on the phone to speak louder

All that shouting would make me nervous. I'd be affraid I'd spill my coffee.

put the coffee in your beer helmet and just sip from it

That affects my headphones then. Sorry Tigger look what Eabu did to your thread. :28: lol

But we digress... ;)

So did anyone have any thoughts or advice on the topic of buying a Car DVD/Entertainment system?

i've read that you shouldn't leave the monitors out where people can see them b/c they'll break into your car in search of the DVD system.

Pick one....

You really can't go wrong with any portable DVD player on the market.

Target (Wal-mart, kmart etc) usually have a good selection and can be less expensive than Best Buy.

Get a 9 inch screen.

teach them sudoku

Play with yourself , its the easiest.

We have a rca dual screen from Best Buy. Have had no problems. $190.00 on sale.
