Two Kingston 2GB microSD Cards for $7.99 Shipped

I think the price of SD and flash drives making their final drops in price to their true value. Not the inflated price established for new technology. Might be a good deal now but in a few months this is probably going to be the standard price for such memory devices.

Just wait a week for black friday. Most memory cards go on sale like crazy

In fairness, the prices of manufacturing drop considerably as a technology becomes "older". When a new technology is evolving, manufacturing, research, design, prototyping, etc all takes a lot of money. The machines used to mass produce these items cost a lot of money to invest in, the materials are new, and procedures are still being designed.

Over time, all these costs become less or go away entirely. The manufacturing process becomes refined and streamlined, and thereby the manufacturing costs come down.

So it's not necessarily just a case of companies going "hey, this is new, people will pay more for it" (although sometimes that's part of it), but it's usually a case of charging a balanced price based on demand and manufacturing/research/design costs.

it's not worth waiting for 5 hours to save $2 on a memory card. Although that's just me. I believe my time is worth more than .40/hour

Assuming that you are planning to buy only memory card on black Friday and you have something else to do at the same period

Depending on the store, store empolyees cannot purchase things within the store on black friday.
