Two Seagate 1.5TB SATA Hard Drives for $199.99 Shipped

If you buy those drives make sure you have the latest firmware. Old firmware had a terrible issue causing drive freezing and even becoming inaccessible.
 
so, did the latest firmware really fix the problems with these drives? they've offered so many good deals on these drives and there's so many bad comments out there about the problems with them. I'd love to buy them but am still hesitant that the problems are really fixed.
 
Trust the drives

The problem lies in a few firmware versions that were installed in drives for a defined period of time, and the remedy corrects the problem. The remedy is juat a software download away.

The trouble is, once a problem is reported on the Internet, it spreads like wildfire, but no one ever feels obliged to follow-up and report successful remedies - they've moved on. Also, from what I've seen, there has been a large amount of "piling on" Seagate, folks that never had the drive in question repeating the problem reports, making th eproblem seem larger than it is.

In all likelyhood, the drives that have the bad firmware have been pushed through the market already, and are no longer on retailer shelves. This problem, and it's associated fix, has been circulating for over six months.
