I ordered a deal from OfficeMax. It was delivered today, but to someone across the street. The UPS tracking page showed a delivery to someone with a different last name. I talked to a UPS customer service rep. on the phone, and she said that I had to wait for the driver to enter the delivered address at the end of the day.

What can I do? I have a bad feeling about this. What if the driver enters my address as the delivered address? I don't know which apartment unit the driver delivered to, so I can't go talk to my neighbor. OfficeMax won't be responsible for this anyway. :(

I once had something similar to this, except my neighbor was kind enough to bring the package to me. All I can say is go along with UPS, because normally if they're the ones that lost it, they'll fess up and become responsible for it, either reimbursing you etc. I don't know what to tell you because you don't know which neighbor has it, but UPS should cover something like this.

automatic insurance

anything sent by UPS which is not insured for a higher value by the customer(Sender) is automatically insured for upto $100 by UPS.

That's true also. Normally, if UPS screwed up the delivery on something like that, they'll cover it, I think. Any updates, cheapo?

Sometimes they do this because the person at the spot was not home, so sometimes they deliver it to a neighbor and ask them to watch it or hold it until other come by... This is sometimes specified by the reciever...

I know a neighbor asked for their merchandise to be delievered to use once and we waited until our neighbors got home and told them about it... happens sometimes, but I dont think they do it anymore.

I called OfficeMax and cancelled the order. They gave me a refund. So, now OfficeMax will have to go after UPS.

Cancelling the order was MUCH easier than trying to get OfficeMax to check on the tracer status.

Definitely. Congratulations. Once you're out of the situation, you can let OfficeMax deal with UPS and your neighbor any way they want. As long as you're out of the picture, everything is well. :) Thanks for the feedback.

That's a good idea I will have to keep in mind. I never thought about canceling the order instead of fighting to find out where it is.
