Link: When Pittsburgh-based blogger and freelance graphic designer Justine Ezarik discovered an inches-thick bulging envelope in her mailbox, she was initially excited by the prospect of receiving a gift.

Instead, it was a 300-page iPhone service bill from AT&T, Ezarik's first monthly statement for the new and much-touted service.

Totally and utterly ridiculous..no wonder everything costs so much!

to be utterly and completely accurate, my understanding is that this "monumentally detailed and essentially useless" billing isn't applied to all cingular (excuse me, i meant the new a t & t) accounts. rather, it's a feature of the iphone service.

Right, Monkey.. Its not the AT&T, its the iPhone. Many people have been receiving these huge bills. Not 300 pages, maybe, but over 50 is extremely common. Lets not forget that its printed on both sides of the page, too. Apparently they itemize everything. The way I understood it is they even transcribe the text messages made. (I find that hard to believe though, and assume that I misunderstood).

Justine (aka justine.tv and iJustine) actually has an unboxing video of her bill. I watched it yesterday out of boredom at work and its worth a look, even if you dont really learn anything other than that she has HUGE eyes. lol

"The AT&T bill itemizes your data usage whenever you surf the Internet via EDGE, even if you're signed up for the unlimited data plan. AT&T also goes into an incredible amount of detail to tell you—well, almost nothing. For instance, I know that on July 27 at 3:21 p.m. I had some data use that, under the To/From heading, AT&T has helpfully listed as "Data Transfer." The Type of file? "Data." My total charge? $0.00.

This mind-numbing detail goes on for 52 double-sided pages (for 104 printed pages!) with absolutely no variance except the size of the files."
