The commissioning is happening today!

"Notification 1 sent 11/6/09 at 6 PM. During the Commissioning of the USS New York at Pier 86 & 88 in MN on 11/7/09 at approx. 11 AM, the Sewell's Point Weapons Detachment will fire a cannon in honor of the senior officials attending the ceremony. You may hear 19 consecutive loud bangs at this time.

If my Dad was in reach of your head - you would be getting a slap on the upside. Never ever call a Navy ship a "boat". Boats are what Marines use to go fishing.

I think you mean two Bushmaster II 30mm close-in guns and two Rolling Airframe missile launchers

I gave this same line to my teenage son when he thought he would be able to out run a squad car... it took him a little bit to figure out what I meant.

We just had a motorcycle go through part of our county at 100+ MPH. It didn't take long for the deputies to corner the driver, impound the bike, and bring him to jail. We have never had a vehicle outrun the radio here...ever.

Well I hope they commission a new USS Los Angeles on general principles. I think the USS New York is more a result of 9-11.
