Does anyone know of any tools or hardware that can be purchased for around 100 bucks or less that turns vhs movies into a dvd burnable format. I need something to reserve home movies made from like 5-10 years ago.

I find that the best and easiest way to do this is to purchase a cheap DVD recorder (anywhere from $60-$100). Mine cost $80. I just plug my VCR or camcorder or any other source into it and record my home movies directly to DVD. Easy, and works and looks great.

thanks for the tip. I will look into this. Does this work with any old DVD recorder? do you know what model/brand you have? This sounds like a solutution that would work really well for this situation.

Thanks.

I have a CyberHome DVR 1600. This will work with any DVD recorder. I like my model a lot, but my first one was sort of defective and put out a high-pitched noise. The second one I have works nicely.

thanks for letting me know. i will look for this model and see if i can find it at the local store.

You can make chapters on a DVD recorder, and I think it's a more simplistic, easier process.
