I need to add a capture card to dub some VHS tapes to DVD but I think these are in their infancy right now and I have no idea what to buy to get decent conversion. Any recommendations/deals on anything? Thanks

Me too. Been looking to do this forever, but been to lazy. I have my DVD burner all set, but don't have a decent capture card or the software to do it.

The only thing I have that comes close to capturing is a WinTV GO card, ugh.

advc-100 works great. It is an external capture box. I did alot of vhsc to raw dv without 1 problem. I am also using a p3 800mhertz machine. It takes all the work off of the processor. I am sure it would work great on a fast machine. email me for more info if needed

I have a avermedia card from Officemax. I paid about $20 and that's about what it's worth. Not great quality, but not terrible either. It uses your sound cards mic input for sound- so for my machine the sound comes out a little tinny.
Okay if you want to go the cheap-o route.
