You should be fine with an X800GT or higher in the ATI line of cards or a 6600GT or higher in the NVIDIA line of things. Both of those cards are really pretty cheap right now. How much money are you looking to spend on upgrading your current setup?

Another thing to check before upgrading, open up the side of the case (provided you are comfortable doing that) and peek around your motherboard. You'll see a few large slots towards the lower left of the motherboard (usually white in color), what you need to do follow those slots all the way to the top one. Is the top slot a brown or black color? The reason I ask is that there are a couple different varieties of cards out on the market right now, some fitted for use in a PCI-Express slot and others for the older AGP type slot. Black typically means PCI-Express and brown signifies an AGP slot. This will tell you what kinds of cards are available for your motherboard.
