Video - "Test" driving a car

I don't understand why the guy would let him test drive it WITH A CAMERA in the car if he didn't have a license. Seems stupid to me.

Poor guy - I guess he was hard up for the sale. But he should have known that these guys couldn't possibly have been serious about buying that car.

I have to say I felt bad for the dealer.

And the worst part for him is... if this video circulates around the net enough to make its way to his boss, his job may be history (since he let the guy test-drive without a license). But that part was his own fault, I suppose.

I just don't understand why he allowed him to test drive the car without a license with a camera there filming the whole event!

Seems staged to me.

Oh yeah, I remember this one - great look into a world few know about!

Wow, the undercover report was an eye-opener.

There's a reason the dealership I worked for had an agreement the buyer had to sign before test driving a car, and we got copies of each driver's license BEFORE the test drive.

No copy, no drive, no exceptions... This is rediculous.

I found that report to be quite informative.. It only proves what I suspected in many ways tho.. It also means that I'd rather buy from a no haggle, down to earth dealership then a quazi run sweatshop of one.. I also liked the fact he pointed out when they had the SUV's that were selling above msrp but that ppl were bypassing the sales guys alltogether and getting an even better deal.. Viva le Internet!

My wife and I bought a new Chev Trailblazer back in January because our truck got totaled in a wreck. I went to Edmunds and did research on the Trailblazer and such. I then used the request a quote feature and sent emails to several dealerships in town and a few across the state. On a Saturday we went to our local "high pressure" dealership and talked with the fleet sales person. The guy was nice enough, but the payment he was giving us was outrages. We talked to him for a while then left. We also did stop by the used car portion of the lot, but more about that in the last paragraph.

The 2nd dealership we stopped by, again we met with the fleet sale manager. She was a very nice lady and I told her what we were looking for. She pulled up the trailblazer that was "advertised" in the paper for $19,995. Of course the SUV was the stripped down model. I said we wanted the remote entry with it. She looked up on her screen and asked what color we wanted. She pulled another TB up and it was what we were looking for. We were able to get the TB for $20,500 after rebates and a dealer incentive. After it was all said and done, we got our new 2004 TB LS for a little over $300 a month with a 6 year 60,000 mile extended warranty.

One thing I hate about car dealerships is when you pull up and there is the mass of sales persons standing there. At the 1st dealership I warned my wife about it. Sure enough as we pulled into the parking lot there they stood. I couldn't resist moooing cause they looked like cattle standing there lol!

At the 1st dealership after we looked at the new TB we stopped to look at the used TB's. I wanted to get an idea of how much they were going for and if they had any good deals on late model ones. The used car guy walked up (*****ed back hair, silk tie, etc) and asked what we were looking for. I told him and we proceeded to go look at them. They only had about 3 of the style I was looking at and really wasn't interested in looking at any. The guy insisted I look at one so I picked the one I liked the best and he ran to get the keys. He came back opened the TB and we got in. I was a nice 2003 TB LT w/ leather etc. I DID NOT want to test drive the truck since we had just test drove a new one. The guy insisted that we test drive it and was after I told him NO more than three times. So I let him go ahead and pull the truck out and pull it over for us. He said get in and let’s go. Again I said NO I don’t want to test drive it. He looked at me like, idiot get in and let’s go. There were no stickers on the window and all I really wanted to know was how much is it. The guy would not tell me. He said we had to take a test drive before he could tell me. Again I said No... (What part of No does he not understand?) So he took us into his cube and we said down and proceed to wait. After setting there 5 mins we said the heck with this and got up to walk out. Amazingly enough, there he was and he asked where we were going. I told him I was tired of waiting and we were leaving. We walked out leaving him standing there. Ugggg the stereo typical sales person....

Used Cars sales guys are 10x worse then New Car sales guys.. If you can imagine that...

Here, there's a Toyota lot.. Typical high pressure, Hi-Vol(?) lot.. New sales guys waiting like sheep to tag and bag you when you drive up.. Walk over to the used car section and dear god... None of those ppl are american, nor can that half speak english.. And your supposed to trust them.. I don't get it.. I've walked that lot a couple times, why I don't know, and each time the sales guy pawned me off to somebody else, who badgered me more and once I was showed to yet a 3rd guy... You walk around feeling like your inside a dog cage trying to find the exit.. One of these days, I'm gonna go out 'car hunting' with some really clever lines for the sale guys just to irk them and leave me the heck alone.. Common sense these days states, you have the internet, don't buy $h|t unless you've researched the product and the best deal.. I mean, duh! I'd much rather spend countless hours here looking at car specs and prices, narrow the field then go 'have a look'... Choose and buy online from somewhere... Shopping for big ticket items shouldn't be like being shoved into a torchure chamber...

My old boss use to buy a new car every year, since I was his accountant he would bring me along. Claiming so I could tell him if he could afford it and the tax issues. The first time we went I thought oh, no big deal I get a paid day out of the office, will be easy......I was wrong my boss had a plan he would test drive and the moment they wanted to talk money he pushed me to the sales guy and said "she is the money person, you work out what I can pay with her".

It was like being tossed to the sharks. Of course every year my boss was happy leaving with a new car and me with a migraine. I have never walked into a dealership since quitting.

Kage, a neighbor of mine has a TrailBlazer and likes it, how's yours been?

So far it has been a great veichle. This is the first SUV I have driven that is pretty smooth. Plus it has the Chev Vortex V6 so it has plenty of get up and go. I have had a couple of minor issues with the radio, but besides that it's been great.

Pretty cool.

My dad has a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix as a company car. We normally wouldn't buy GM, but it's been wonderful so far. We totaled one and then got another one. Our new one has about 8800 miles on it so far with no trouble.

I feel sorry for whoever purchased this car, those guys probably screwed something up in the engine.

Not to mention the tires...

The most damage done to that 'stang was more clutch wear since it was a stick, rear tire wear, and some paint damage/defects.. I doubt the motor or trans was injured any. Nothing a new clutch, new rear tires and a good detail job can't fix.. lol
